Re-build my F-250

I want to rebuild rather than trade in my 1999 F-250. It is in pretty good shape but is starting to show it's age. What will it cost and what should I replace/rebuild for the best work truck? I was thinking,

engine and transmission
Brakes/rotors
Suspension bushings etc.
shocks
A/C compressor
hoses and belts
wiring repairs
New carpet

Do I need to think about the alternator, new battery, ... What else?
