idle air control valve and heat????
hey everybody...I have a "94 ranger with the 4.0l engine...for a few months now, if i have been running truck and shutengine off, i need to raise hood so engine heat dissapates....if i do not do this, the engine will not start and/or idle smoothly...during the winter months, I would put ice or snow on the idle air control valve which would allow engine to start and run properly...thinking the IACV was the problem, i replaced it 2 weeks ago, but it didn't correct the problem...anyone have this same problem, or maybe a solution...thanks

I had something very similar happen to me on a Ford van and it was the pick up coil in the distributor. It wouldn’t restart unless I raised the hood and waited 10 minutes or so. One day when I shut it off, I opened the hood popped the distributor cap off and sprayed braked cleaner in it, put it back on and it started right up
