98 Ranger heating/cooling
On my '98 Ranger, when the heater or defroster is in use my temperature controls do not work; when I turn the dial to cool, I get warm air; when I turn the dial to heat, I get hot air. I have replaced the heater control valve to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Search the site for 'blend door' repair or replacement. The blend door does just what its name suggests, that is, to blend cool air with hot air to modulate the temperature. If it breaks, it can leave the door flopping in the breeze, or parked at one extreme or the other. Most times it is the pivot or hinge post that breaks where it hooks into the motor that moves it. There are several posts on the site, and multiple methods to fix it short of the 8-hour job of removing and replacing the dash board for access. People even sell kits on the web for this repair.
