Have you tried any utility companies or their maintenance departments? Perhaps a salvage yard dealing in medium & heavy duty trucks might have what you need. You say yours "went to heaven". If you find another that has failed in a different manner perhaps you could be the Dr. Frankenstein of transfer cases!
This is part of the problem with having low production numbers equipment. But ahh the glances, rubbernecking, and outright drooling from some of those who are running with the crowd!
You always want to be on the scout for parts you may need "someday".
