68 f-600

Does anyone have torque specs. on 68 f-600 with 330 ft 2bbl. I'm looking mainly for main and rod bearing caps. Also I'm wondering if replacing rod and main bearings in this truck/engine combo is an in frame possibility. Truck has 112,000,debating on doing complete rebuild.Only real complaint right now is rod bearing noise at very low idle. Any suggestions are greatly welcomed. Thanks.

I have them at home in a Motor's Truck Repair manual.

But before you go that far, check your oil pressure at that low idle. Chances are, it's way too low.

Some help for idle oil pressure in the FE/FT can be had by doing something about the rocker arm to rocker shaft clearance if they are worn. Either put a restrictor in the oil feed hole under the rocker arm stand, or replace the shafts and rockers.

It's worth a set of valve cover gaskets to check it out.

Thanks for advice on low oil pressure.I'm going to check with true gauge to find real pressure.Could you give any more info on those restrictors you mentioned?

Look around in the FE forum for "oiling mods" - it might even be in the sticky at the top of the forum. Holley #90 jets are usually what's used for that if I recall correctly.
