I personnley like it back at the park in Knoxville; mainly due to shade trees; pond; and buildings. Was not to impress with a open parking lot half full last year; but will attend again this year to determine my future support of its return to P.F.
We'll be driving over on Thursday and staying thru Saturday afternoon. Got a cabin for a great price this year. Stayed at the Grand Resort last year; wasn't bad; but I've slept in worst places in my past career.
I agree loved the park; but the strip at Pigeon Forge others alot more; and cool to see the old trucks cruisin the lanes.
Looks like I'm in a minority, but I'm very happy its back in PF. I went to the first Knoxville show and I felt like I was going to the Memphis Fairgrounds. Only in a worst neighborhood (and I didn't think you could get worse than Memphis!). I like Pigeon Forge mostly because I love the Smokies. Out of the last 30+ years I've spent at least one week there on vacation all but 3 years. The venue in Knoxville might have been a little better, but I like the fact that Pigeon Forge has made the effort to attract big car shows with this new parking lot. I like it a lot better than the Grand, but its not nearly as close to my KOA. Its called the Municiple Parking Lot, but I can't believe it was paved just for local workers. I'm sure you could park every PF citizen's car in the lot and still have plenty left over.
I want to come this year to support the decision to bring it back. Last year we stayed at the Super 8 that is litterally right across the street. Nothing fancy, but free breakfast and great location. I hope to be back!
I plan to go up for one day, haven't decided which yet. Are things usually in full swing by Friday or is Saturday a better day.
thanks
Friday is usually ok. But to see the most trucks, Saturday is a must. There are a lot of guys that live close enough that just drive up for the day. Most all truck events are over by 6 or 7pm. A little cruise time and there on their way home. Before the show moved to Knoxville there was always a F100 parade around 4pm. I don't think that came back.
Oh dont get me wrong,I love it being back in PF....Just wished there was more shade or place to go hide out lol...
I understand. Last year as we were leaving the show we saw a lot of people hanging out just off the lot at the river's edge. Looks like a long walkway is there now. That would be a great place for some eating consessions. All in all, while not a great big difference, I think PF would be cooler than Knoxville. And with the rain last year, there wasn't much of a parade of trucks up and down the parkway late in the evening. We got some polish sausage and "koolaids" and sat to watch some trucks. We got to see some of the trucks, seemed like more chebies from the "other show", and rain.
I'm with ya Guys on P.F. location; offers more on the strip; but open parking lot and heat; isn't as much fun. An parking for spectator's wasn't well established last year; hopefully better this year.
Hope to see some of you guys there.!
