Lift Kit and Tire Questions
I just ordered a 2011 F-350 Crew Cab Diesel 4WD from the factory to replace my current 2000 F-350 Super Cab 4WD (now for sale). I ordered the truck with the 3.55 locking rear axle and 275 tires mounted on 20" rims. The truck will be used mostly for towing my old Dodge Power Wagons (approx. 9,000 lbs with trailer).
QUESTIONS:
I would like to install the CST or Icon front stabilizers and shocks. Also considering a 2.5" lift from CST or Icon. Has anyone got pictures and experience using these products on a 2011 F-350 Diesel?
Does it make any sense to mount the 2.5" lift kit with the stock wheels or should I wait until I wear out the first set of rubber and have the funds to upgrade to larger tires and wheels?
I will not be mounting anything extreme since this is primarily a tow vehicle. What size tire and wheel would give me the best fuel economy while towing without loosing pulling power in the mountains, etc.?
Finally, if I change the wheel/tire size is there any way to recalibrate the shifting points in the automatic transmission without installing a chip? Does the truck's computer recalibrate automatically? Are there any chips designed for towing performance that do not violate factory warranty?
Thanks in advance for any help and advice.
