Backspacing, tire fitment questions for those with lifts
Currently my 2wd F150 has an AS 2.5" leveling kit up front on stock rims and tires. As part of my effort to make my old a truck into a new truck I want new rims and tires. I'd like to wrap some 295/70R17 Nitto TG's around a set of 17x8 MB Gunner 6's. They have 25mm off set, basically 5" right? Does anyone with similar sized tires and wheels have any fitment issues? Will I be looking at trimming the front valence?
At some point in the future I wouldn't mind lifting the truck up to 6" with a Fabtech kit. Assuming the rims are 5" offset, they will fit the Fabtech? Are the trimming issues only with the tire size they list as maximum? I would have to grind on the knuckles or calipers or anything would I?
And any opinions on if I should get machined or gloss black to go with my white truck would be great I plan on 2 toning it with a graphite colored paint and blacking out certain parts if that helps. . .
With 295s and your leving kit you will might have some trimming to do on the front bumper fascia, (that black piece of plastic below the bumper). Very minor, if any thing. And yes 25mm is basically 1 inch, so yes 5 inch Backspace. I dont know for sure, youll have to hear from someone with a fabtech deal, but I have saved this link in the past because ive been thinking about doing a true lift as well. It says fabtech wants at least 5 inch backspace. heres the link Ford F150 suspension lift kits by Skyjacker, Zone
I have those rims, in the machined version 20's on 35's. Check my album if youd like to see what they look like on my whitesand truck. I cant get the stupid pictures to show up when i insert them in here. hope it helps. Some of the other wheels I looked at which were similar were Eagle Alloys 079, Dip wheels D10, and Black Rhino Zambia.
I love my wheels, but a word of advice. Be careful if you order them privatly as opposed to going through a dealer. I was lucky to have a friend who owns a few shops of a national tire/wheel supplier so i ordered through him. It was very lucky becuase It took the process of having 10 rims to be sent to him (over 2 weeks time) before he was able to get 4 that were not damaged. And the damage wasnt from shipping, the packaging was wicked good, they were packaged and sent as damaged material for whatever reason. Just be aware of who you buy from. Good luck
Fabtech said those wheels wont work. . .5.5" back spacing . . .and after looking at some fitment charts online. . .there is an extra 1/2" somewhere behind the wheel
