Steering wheel controls for a 2001 Expedition? (maybe dual use of cruise controls?)

I really would like to add steering wheel controls on my 2001 expedition. I only have cruise controls on there now, and don't want to add that little stick on remote thing...

Anyway to possibly make dual use of the cruise control buttons already in place? All I really care about are volume controls anyway.

Not sure how easy it is if you have the factory radio. I just put a Kenwood head unit in my '05 F250 and ordered a control module from PAC Audio. It hooks in line between the radio and steering wheel controls and I was able to program what buttons I wanted to control what function. Its pretty useful, a little delayed, but it doesn't bother me that much.

No I guess I should have said that, I have a Kenwood aftermarket head unit, but I do not have any dedicated steering wheel audio controls - just the cruise control buttons.

I'd look into the PAC Audio set up, I had to get the PAC SWI JACK, bought it from Crutchfield. Not sure if you would be able to utilize the cruise control option, it gave me the option to use the fan/temp control buttons as well as the radio buttons. I'd get on their website and read the directions, maybe make a phone call and see if they can help you out. I assume there are other companies that make a similar unit.

I contacted PAC about the swi-pac for ford, they said its not compatible with my truck because I don't have audio controls on the wheel... I would not be able to re-program the cruise control buttons for anything

OH WELL.
