missing #4 cylinder

how do I find the number 4 cylinder on my excurison V10. thanks for any help.

It's under the hood

No,
If you're looking at the engine from the front, on your left will be 1-5 from front to back, on your right will be 6-10 from front to back.

While at advance auto getting the coil for #4. One person in line said he has a F250 with the V10 and said if one has gone bad then the others will fail soon as well. The employee behind counter said he had heard the same thing with the Ford V10's. Any truth to this?

I wouldn't think it's any more common with the 6.8, than the 5.4. Of course they can fail anytime, but just replace the bad one, and go from there. Now, if the truck hasn't had the plugs changed, then it may be the best time to go the extra mile and swap the plugs, and maybe the boots on the cop's. I wouldn't run the aftermarket COP's any longer than I had to though. The factory DG508's are only $45 on rockauto.com. I ran ebay cop's and what a mistake that was. They had a failure rate of 1 per month.

I used to work at a shop that specialized in foreign cars.. bmw/mercedes/audi/jag/range rover. We would highly recommend that our jag s-type (ford engines from lincoln LS) customers replace all coil on plugs at the same time. Occasionally the customers who opted to only replace one would come back saying we didn't fix it right when they got another misfire and we would have to explain... no the one we changed is fine... now its a different cylinder!

I guess on those engines, it's a little different. I know on my 5.4, I would only change one as they would fail, and it ran perfect afterwards,(until the next one would fail). As for the ACCEL's, I was gonna buy those and some of the guys on here said to just stay with the motorcrafts for dependability.

Unless they say Weapon X on 'em, aint nothing better than OEM COP's, and that includes Accel, Granatelli, and the ebay no-name brands.
