Fuel Tank swap?

1979 F-250 Supercab

I have a new spectre 38 gallon fuel tank for my truck. It has the four inch hole in it though...So the only sending unit I can find to fit(without the pump) is from a 1987?? but it has 3 wires on the sender.

Is it possible to make it work with my two wires going to the guage?

I can figure ground wire and wire going to the guage bout dont have any clue what the third wire goest to and the sending unit will have to be 70,10 ohms to work with the stock guage. Also as for the tank is it the LMC 38 gallon one?, because if it is there is a sending unit for it in the catalog.

the lmc tank has the smaller hole and sender. I read somewhere that someone did this swap but can't find it. Mine has the larger 4 inch hole and requires the larger sender. not sure if the guage can be rigged to work.

Or how would i go about hooking up an aftermarket?

You could check in with Summit and see their sending units and see if there are any that are the right depth.
