Has anyone installed the Banks Ram Air Intake yet? If yes, any improvement? From their ads, obviously the airflow is supposed to be better and Banks usually backs their claims up with extensive testing but I'm wondering about some real world numbers out there. Just the fact that the filter is reusable is a huge plus. Also, any dealer/warranty issues? I would think replacing a filter/housing wouldn't be an issue but you never know. I searched the threads and didn't see anyone asking about this, so if this is a duplicate, refer me to the proper thread. Thanks.
I'm interested as well... although you can just get a reusable filter that fits in the stock location. Should net some similar gains... honestly a "ram air" intake can't really do *that* much without other mods to compliment it
I followed all the hype and claims on my 2066 GMC. Ended up doing two different intakes and the final mod was a Banks 4" exhaust (turbo back), intake with the cold air scoop and Banks tuner.
The only claim that I could verify was the lack of smoke with the banks tuner.
Every other claim from increased mileage to decreased EGT's was unfounded. The exhaust didn’t even sound any better and actually added a drone at highway speeds
Eventually my research found that there was no better intake made for the Duramax then the intake from the factory!
Although it was fun to drive at level 6, I ended up never using the towing modes because all it did was overload the trans and increase all the temps.
The new truck will most likely stay stock in that aspect, except for maybe some type of gauge display. I would consider an aftermarket brake controller like the Banks Brake.
