The number I had listed was incorrect. The right number is BBI8-5472919. I am told this is BBI8 indicates the engine is a V8 and the number range for 1940 is 5210701 to 5896294 and 1941 range is 5896295Y to 6769035Y. Looks like the model is 01A which is a 221c.i. 85hp. Now to find out where I might purchase the out side rear dual wheel rims? Does anyone have any answers. Thanks everyone. Craig Hello Carlene-Thanks
So did you find out the actual size of the truck too? Since you said the truck is a tank truck and that it has dual wheels I'm guessing that it is a 1-1/2 and up (not a 1 ton)? Don't know where you could get those rims except from a collector or place that buys old "junk" like that (and who most likely don't know what it came from). What your bolt pattern? I'll keep a lookout for some around here.
I have been looking for Budd rims for the dual rear wheels on my 1935 and 36 1 1/2 ton trucks. It seems that the AA 1928-31 were the narrowest then they gradually got wider every few years. One of the best places I see them are along country roads in Texas. I often see an axle with all four wheels and nothing else! I guess they were kept for trailers or something.
If I knew what they looked like I could keep an eye out for them. I know a place with a nice pile of rims from big and little trucks that I'm going to scavenge someday, heh heh.
