Hi my 1997 ford ranger's tailgate will not open. I know how the mechanism works. Here is my problem I have a carpet kit and I was able to get the board covering the tailgate out but barely. How do I get to the torx's I cant even get my hand between the board and the carpet kit. Any ideas
Thank You
Ricahrd
P.S. MY Ranger has 388000 miles no major repairs
Well if your tailgate works the same way mine does, pulling up on the handle in the middle pulls two rods in toward the center. That releases catches on the left and right side that holds the tailgate closed.
Take the screwdriver and move the catch to release the catch and open the tailgate manually.
thank you very much I didnt know what how it worked for sure. Well I just went out and tried the screw driver I cant find anything to latch on to. There is a piece of plastic over the side holes. thanks any way
