Jim - I will try to remember that.
Steve - The ride was chilly, but good non the less. I was ponying one horse from my horse that doesn't like to pony, so I decided to where my light riding gloves for dexterity. Next time, I will try to use my insulated gloves, and hope that I can keep all the lines sorted out properly
Pat - There is miles of unpaved roads around here and it is rare for me to go more then 2 days without finding myself on gravel. Some of the "gravel roads" were built with sand back in the late 70's and now there is alot of clay that has worked its way up into it, talke about muddy!

Oh, I recognize the model. A friend of my dad's has one that is still in running shape! It isn't as clean as that one, but it still runs and see's snow every winter.
As for me, I grew up riding a 74 Elan 300SS that had been my dad's first sled. Needles to say, I have a great appreciation for today's machines, especially the suspensions

Yeah, my dad's old SS Elan is a 300 twin that was actually built as a "factory" race sled for the 300cc crosscountry class At one point he had twin carbs and pipes on it so he could run in the mod classes Apparently he had to pack 5 gallons of gas just to make it through a day of riding. We still have that machine, 114" slide rail rear suspension with 3" of travel and a "wide" ski stance were supposed to make it a "race machine". It starts first pull still, and runs like new. We ussually drive it around the property anytime we need to be reminded about the progress that has been made
