The camper with water, propane, batteries, food and such is usually about 3400 pounds.
The boat/trailer combo with gas, and extras we carry in the boat, such as genset brings the total to 4600 pounds on average trip. The cab totals maybe 700 pounds of people.
I will put overloads on the rear axle of whatever truck get, especially with a long hitch extender to tow off, and the heavy camper.
A low geared differential 5.4 may work well.
Its never going to exceed 110 kms on the road with me driving anyways. Usually on roadways with posted speeds of 80 or 90, sometimes 100. So general travel is about 85 to 95 kms, and 100 to 105 on roads posted 100.

Ford Ranger, the truck you have is known reliable. That being said i am going to look for a newer one, in the years 2002 to 2007, so the truck has depreciated lots, but still has many good years left in it. Used rangers are common enough, to be priced okay also.

I think a properly equiped 5.4L would work for you. I would make sure that it was an 05+ because they make alot better power then the older ones. Also, I would consider a tuner such as the X3 that I use, as it makes an amazing difference in the driveability. Considering that it would be used with a load all the time, I would try to find one with 4:10s.

That would give you a GCW of around 15,500lbs, wich is less then what I have had before, but you would have more wind resistance

My 250 would be a little over weight on my GVW, but the rear axle weight and the combined weight would be well under.

The rangers are great little trucks but a v6 is a must.

they are good rigs and you can call me jack everyone else does. routine stuff great. my rig has almost 175,000 miles on it. runs good. we've had it to nebraska and back 4 times.
no problems. down to the coast no biggie. and it will smoke the tires too. good runnin little rig. my wife got lucky when she bought it in 98' before we got it they put an msd ignition in it. its chipped at 5500 rpm. but it works good. it will run 11.45 in the 1/4 mile.

That is why you cant loose with the v-10. It will get you better milage than the smaller v-8, especially always loaded like that.

Well, we finally had a small brake in the weather today. It only stated to rain in the late afternoon instead of all day. It was even with out any wind for the most of the day.

I would like a V10 but they are rarely for sale used, and the last one i looked at was in bad condition.
In a perfet world i would find a low mileage, well cared for 2006-2007 F350 supercab with the 6.8 engine.

Nice fish.
Ever care to trade some for chicken, beef, pork,or fallow deer, I would be willing to swap.
I used to buy salmon from the natives not to far away, but have not done so for years now.

You may not have your PM option turned on.

Click on User CP. Near the top on the left side.

On the left side there is a section called Your Control Panel.

Look for Settings and Options. In that section click on Options. There you can check if you have your PMs turned on.

In that section you should see this, it's part way down the page.

<LEGEND><LABEL for=cb_receivepm>Private Messaging</LABEL></LEGEND><TABLE cellSpacing=3 cellPadding=0 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD>This forum features a private messaging system, which allows members to send messages to one another privately.
