Fuel problems

I have an 89 ford F-159 with the 300 inline 6 and dual tanks. It has been acting funny when switching between tanks and sometimes just completely dieing and not starting again unless it sits for awhile. I think it's the fuel supply supply reservoir, the thing that switches fuel pressure between the two tanks. I priced one at the dealer and they want $100 bucks for one, so i was wondering if anyone has had success fixing the part or could I just pull one of a truck from the junkyard?

Hi I also have an 89 with a similar fuel delivery problem at presant that I'm taking a step at a time, the tank selector valve you refer to seems to be a common problem according to a link found on this site https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/2...re-issues.html but there are other possibilities for this problem
pretty informative,it states that this valve operates by fuel pressure alone,I would not recommend a used valve of this type and they can be had for between 70 and 80 bucks at an auto parts house. Good luck

Ok thanks, I'll check out that link. I think a friend of mine has a parts truck that I might be able to steal that part from to see if that fixes it. I'll let ya know what happens. Are they all fairly interchangeable between the different models of trucks?

yes those valves appear to be interchangable between models, years and different engines, here is a site I use to cross reference parts with and get an Idea of prices RockAuto Auto Parts ,they appear to have fair prices also.
