Tight steering, to the right only.

I searched and read a few posts, but came up with no real answer.

History:

Replaced ball joints, axle u-joints, front wheel bearings about 8 months ago. I've checked those items and they're fine.

I also adjusted the steering box at the same time, and all seemed fine. I've put close to 10k miles on the truck since all this was done without an issue.

Problem:

Didn't drive the truck for about a week. When I started driving it again, the steering got tight, as in no power assist tight, when turning to the right. If I turn it to the left it doesn't have an issue.

I've drained and refilled the PS reservoir with Lucas, and it doesn't seem to be helping at all.

I'm thinking the steering box is finally shot, but it's kind of weird that it was fine when I parked it, and just started acting up all of a sudden.

Thanks for any help!

Back the screw off about a 1/4 turn in the steering box...you adjusted it too far it seems.

Thanks, that seems to be working. Better, but not 100%, I'll keep going 1/4 turn at a time until it's good.

I'd also start shopping around to check pricing on a re-built one, or one from a junkyard. Since you over tightened it, it may have issues in the future.

I've already started shopping. Seems as though this box is shot.

Looks like decent quality rebuilds are about 150 locally, and I've sent an email off to Redhead to find out how much theirs are.

Thanks for your help!
