Is Something Missing Here?

This photo was taken yesterday while I was greasing the front end of my1999 F-250 PSD 4 WD. Note the oil cooler and the bottom of the AC evaporator are exposed. Was there a cover protecting these? I was offroad in axle deep much and broke the front anti sway bar bracket and lost the steering stabilizer shock. I cannot believe these radiators were designed to be exposed like this. Please take a look. I do not recall what used to be there.
The view is from underneath. The black diamond plate is the bottom of thje front bumper.

They seem too exposed to road debris.

I notice you have an aftermarket front bumper. The stock bumper had a heavy rubber mat that bridge the gap between that and the radiator support. You can still see the black plastic plugs in the bottom of the support. It was there to kind of deflect stuff off of the radiator, it offered some protection but not what you probably need, especially if you ripped of the stabilizer It also directed more air flow through and over the radiator surface into the engine compartment. Hope this helps. stg

It must have been there until I had my close encounter of the brushy kind as I never noticed this radiator complex until yesterday despite being under the truck many times.

This looks like a fabrication job- heavy guage steel mesh, I think.

I just took a look under my '01 powerstroke and it has a thick rubber piece. It mounts from the bumper to the radiator core support. Hope that helps.

Thanks, that does help. Mine must be providing shade for some critters out there.

I kind of lke the mesh idea for airflow during summer. In winter I may have to cover the engine oil cooler to maintain proper viscosity. The Ranch Hand Bullnose bumper deflects air flow. So, this could help. I wanted to install an oil temperature guage and this looks like a good time.
