That's very possible, the V10 has been around for almost 15 years now and has built a legendary reputation. The EcoBoost has lots more that can break and is certainly stressed far more than the 2V V10 is. Time will tell, but so far things are looking good. Of course there is lots of relatively unproven technology used on this engine, so anything is possible.

Keep it up boys and I'm going to have to go buy me a diesel just so I can learn those; and then have the ammunition argue the gas vs diesel debate with some merit. Just saying - man I feel left out! HA NOT

Tom,
Those videos were AMAZING. Thanks for the link. I cannot believe the EcoBoost is that robust.

Man, someone has GOT to drop one of these into an Excursion.

That's true, you can use said 500 hp 4 banger and reduce the gears incredibly until it can move the excursion but at the expense of screaming high rpm. To multiply torque divides the rpm equally.
It is also possible to change the torque curve especially on turbo vehicles. My torque curve is doesn't peak as soon as it does stock, I still get the same torque at the stocks old peak but now I peak 800 at 2550 instead of 550 at 2000. That raises my horsep

It is true! If I went the other way from my diesel now to the gas truck I had I think I would drive it off a cliff after figuring my gas mileage the first time.

Yesterday I went to pick up a motor with the X and trailer. While at the shop I noticed my fog light looked funny. Looked closer and I see the metal shield around the bulb fell off and is laying on the bottom of the light. No rust or anything just fell apart, the screw and little tab are still in the housing. They don't build'em like they used to.

I'm on the fence with the gas / diesel thing. I have both. I love the diesel BUT winter here are cold and long and gas is nice and toasty fast. Gas also doesn't need a block heater, is quiet on long trips, you can get gas at EVERY gas station not just every other one. Sure the mpgs suck but i got my V10 for $4500 in good shape. compared to a min of $14K for a diesel excursion around here and that's a lot of fuel....I think i figured it'd take 15 years to make that money back using it 5000 miles a year at $4 a gal. course i know it won't be $4/gal in fifteen years but then again i probably won't own it in 15 years..... if the engine crapped out i'd swap it for a cumins but from an investment standpoint i'm happy with the V10.

Oh and i almost never tow anything, so that makes a huge difference.

Good point about the diesels holding their value better!!!!

I never saw a gas engine go 400k miles. Even 300k is rare I believe.

Just sayin.

I have - plenty of them out there.
as it was said - all about proper maintenance.
Hell, there was a guy on David Letterman that got some award from Toyota for his gasser truck going 1million miles - original engine, no rebuild.
