Hub Conversion Kit?
My sis bought an 2000 F-250. Stock hubs needed work so they replaced them with new Warn manual locking hubs. Not sure if they put the conversion kit in first. Hubs were making some odd noise off and on so we took it to Ford, they said it needed new hubs since the Passenger side hub was trying to lock. If we keep the hubs locked the odd noise goes away. Ford guy said the hubs should be auto....they were going to put new hubs on for $500.00 These hubs are 6 months old.
1. What if the guys who sold her the truck failed to put in the conversion kit...what is the risk?
2. Since stock hubs on this year have both lock and auto positions does it need the kit?
Any advice is much appreciated!

I've been chasing this problem for two years now. If you pull apart the front end, removed the hub bearing assembly, you may find that the needle bearings the support the axle shaft are worn. I just put new hubs on and ruined them because the bearing surface on the axle shaft was worn and allowed the needle bearings to destroy themselves after 300 miles. You might want to check your shafts.
