F150 Radio question

First hey all. Newbie to the forum.

I have just purchased and 04 F150 Supercab 4x4 and I wanted to hook my iPod up to it. So I searched around a little and came across BlitzSafe FORD/CAN m-Link2; which according to the website is compatible with my year. Well I installed it and it didn't work. I did some more searching and found that my radio which is a 5L3T (?) doesnt have the internals to work with it. I read somewhere that the radio model 6L3T is compatible with it.

Is that model compatible with it?

If I buy the 6L3T radio will I easily be able to swap it out?

I don't know about the models, but is this working with the 6disc internal changer?

The radios should interchange pretty easily though.

I dont have a 6disc cd changer

I guess I need to know which model radios will be compatible with the factory harness. If there is a list somewhere could you point me to it?

If you are looking to control the iPod from the head unit, you will be unable to with what you have.

If you simply want an AUX in where you can charge listen to your iPod while controlling it from your iPod directly, look at USA-Spec and iSimple.

Good luck.

Swapping out your head-unit is also an option.

I know 04 was a tricky year as far as what head unit they used but give USA-Spec a call. I have used them in the past, solid no nonsense product.

I had an iSimple in my Tacoma and it was pretty good as well.

Good luck.

I would like to switch out the radio as there is no way of returning the current cable. If I pull one that is compatible would it easily swap out? or is the harness different?

I don't know about the 150, however because it was the year of the body change, if you have the new body you most likely have a CAN radio. If you have the old body (Heritage) then it should be a simple swap with any 97-03 radio.

Well it's the new bodystyle so do you know if I'd be able to swap it out with an '05 -'06?
