V10 died need help/advise with 24v cummins into Xcursion
Hey guys, I'm new to this forum. I hope I'm posting in the right section.
My v10 6.8 started knocking (bottom end) and didn't want to replace it with another gas guzzler after spending 1500 or have it rebuilt. I love my X, so I been thinking about doing the 5.9 cummins swap and I was hoping you guys could point me in the right direction. I have many reasons to do this swap please try to stay positive : )
My X is a 2000 limited 4x4 v10 6.8
Donor vehicle:
2001 Dodge 2500 5.9l 24v
What is the best kit out there to make this happen? I've heard about destroked and fordcummins.com I'm very mechanically inclined but I'm looking for the most complete kit. I'm going to be keeping my 4r100 behind with a torque converter upgrade. Any comments or advises with be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I did a bunch of research on this back when I was looking at Excursions and also keep up on any new stuff still just to keep options open should I find a screaming good deal on a Super Duty with a blown motor. Anyway from everything I've read, this place is one of the best to buy parts from and you want to be using Destroked parts, not Fordcummins. Good that you have a donor, although the 24v is probably the least desirable Cummins but still a great motor and since you have a full vehicle, it'd be stupid not to go with it.
You can get ALL the parts you need for the swap from the site I linked you to and instructions too. From everything I've read it is one of the easiest motor swaps you can do since its been done to death and all parts are readily available. The 24V is not going to be quite as easy as the 12V because there will be electronics involved (the 12V is completely mechanical) but like I said, the support is there and there are a bunch of people who will be able to help with real experience and not just research. Hope this helps a little bit.
