They did make them with the 5.4, driving the 6.8 seems the minimum!

I wish the dumptruck we had at the cemetary had at least the 6.8 in it steve. although the 6.0 would have been even better.

The stock 6.0 is pretty peppy, drop a tuner and some beefing up mods and it's an animal.

I couldn't justify getting a diesel, I have 12K miles in almost 24 months!

Thanks guys for all of the assistance in making it possible

Bill, the only advantage that you may have with a diesel would be some better mileage, and that may not outweigh the addtional upkeep costs. Plus there are more things that could crap out on you (turbo, inter cooler, injection pump, etc.)

thats what I have heard steve. I havent bothered putting the tuner I have on the truck right now. Dont want to mess up the warranty by forgetting to return it to stock before getting work done.

Good question to pose - keep them coming if you think of them, I'm making notes.

steve you sound like my dad. his dakota only sees 2 or 3k a yr anymore until recently. he takes his scotters to and from work for the most part because they cost less to refuel and he goes close to a month before refueling them. his truck is down right now because the motor gave up the ghost and havent had any luck tracking down a replacement yetr.

Steve, the Ex would be a slow pig if it had the 5.4 in it. The Ex is pretty much based on a F-350 chassis and that motor should not be in a 350 IMO.

Bill your biggest consideration should be mileage, the 5.4 doesn't get much better than the 6.8. The amount of miles you put on might warrant the diesel......

4.cold air intake.
5.removed the cat
6.replaced the head bolts with studs with new head gaskets.

The EX is on the F250 frame less a couple of leaf springs.
