What the Hell?

There is a rubber bump stop over my front axle on the frame rail. It is there to keep the axle from hitting the frame if you bottom out. It needs to come out But for the life of me I don't know what is holding it on. I tried to see with a mirror but that is not working. Any body know how to get that damm thing out?

hack saw or sawzall, look at the new part first, they normally push into the hole, and the rubber edges expand on the inside of the hole to hold it in, use rubber assembly lube to get it back in, have fun, Chellie

Sometimes a prybar will pop them out, other times a hammer and chisel, or as mentioned, just cut the darn thing out.

Why do you need it gone? If you're able to get it out without destroying it, take a picture for me. If you no longer want it, I may be interested in it. I'm looking at putting a bigger bump stop on my overload springs to help with sway control. With my air bags, I never touch the overloads anymore, but engaging them should help with sway and hopefully axle wrap for those heavy loads.

Sorry but I already went at it with a saws all so that one is usless.

I am going from coil springs to leaf and D60. That rubber thing seems to be holding the big metal stamping for the coil and shock . I cut all the rivets with a torch but the mother wont move. The rubber block might be the thing that is keeping it from moveing. I am done with it for the day but it looks like the mother is bolted or riveted. And the rubber was molded to a thick metal plate that is flat to the stamping so a sawsall will take about a lifetime to get through all that steel.

That explains a lot. Why didn't you just look for a used 4x4 and sell yours if you don't mind me asking?

4wd on a dually was a dealer option, so they are harder to find.

Didn't know that. Thanks. I've always had 2wd trucks. Never wanted to tear up the fields, and had a tractor handy to pull myself out just in case I got stuck.

This is what I want my truck to look like. And that is what it is going to look like if all goes well.
