removing fule lines from motor of and 89?

ok guys heres my problem im tryin to get the fuel lines of the top of the motor on my 89 with a 302, i got the white fuel line tools but they dont seem to want to go under the spring to release it so i was wondering if im using the wrong tool or doind something wrong

I have a plastic set of the fuel line tools and I use the blue one which is next to smallest. I think the idea is to find the one that fits over the line the best and will fit into the fuel rail where you have to press on the donut spring to expand it so you can pull the line out.You have to press on it pretty good and make sure you release the line pressure first by hitting the inertia switch on the firewall by the brake pedal.
