HEEEEELP!!!! Out fo Town NEED ADVICE QUICK!!!
Hey there Fellas!
y Wife and I are driving a ford explorer (2002) and the passenger side rear CV Shaft Hub Bearing has kind of poppe out of the hub.W can drive the car. We just hear a mild rubbing noise when driving.
We are 2 hours from our house and need to get home to our little girl. It's obviously Memorial day and nothing is open. We will be taking it in to be fixed tomorrow. (Tuesday-6/1/10).
Can I drive this thing on the freeway for 2 hours to get home? r is to risky? It oly sounds like a hub bearing that needs to be replace...
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Your description is vague, but if the wheel/bearing has no slop and is running square the wheel should stay put. If it were me I would travel less populated roads and refrain from freeway speeds.
Having said that, you are on the ground and can visually see the damage, it is your call... God Luck and be safe..

Thanks for the reply. I checked things out and everything seemed Good enought o run it home. Like I said, I was out of town and stopped at a local Hotel (Best Western) to use their internet. I just registered to use the Forum to get a quick response. I jacked the passenger rear side of the Vehicle up and ended having about a 1/4" of play with the Wheel, when grabbing it from the top of the tread and shaking it. We took it out for a spin and it was making a tad bit of a rubbing noise that quieted down around 65-70. I stopped a few times to reinspect it on the way and it was fine. It got us home and that's all that I needed. I even drive it to our shop today to have it repaired. It's most likely going to need a passenger side rear hub bearing and possibly a hub assy. As well. Hopefully not a CV Shaft. I don't think that should be needed being that it would ahave had to chew through the bearing first and It dodn't do that. There was a lot grease inside the wheel and on the back of the rotor shield. The other side went out (Drivers side rear) about 4-5 months ago. And IIRC 2002 was the first year for the Ford Explorer to have the All wheel independant suspension. Correct? So that may have just been a simple design flaw for the first year of production. Or just Crappy ole Michigan Roads. Plus, I've had to teach my wife to Avoid pot holes. lol - She's getting there.

I wouldn't mind doing that. Thanks for the suggestion.
To join, it asks for a "request reason".... Do I have to get "approved" to join my States Chapter? If so, is there a general guideline that I should follow?
Thanks for the tips.
EDIT: Here is what I submitted as my "request reason".
