Interior Lights

My kids like me taking them to the drive-in. We open up the back and they lay down and eat their popcorn. Is there any way to turn the interior lights off when the liftgate or window is open?

Interior Lights

hitechcpa:

Not a permanent fix, but I found a trick to shut those annoying lights off when the window is open!...When the window is open you can flip the latch on the door. This is the latch for the window and it is plastic. WHATEVER YOU DO do not try to close the window before you release the latch! If you were to try to close the window before you release it will cause damage to the window latch, and I am sure it wouldn't be cheap to replace.

To release the latch before closing, just turn the handle, as if you were going to open the window, and it will release the latch so you can close the window.

I have not yet found a way to turn off the lights when the whole door is open, but give me time! Otherwise, a switch can be install to do the same.

PS> As a safety feature, supposedly after about 30-45 minutes the lights will automatically turn off, to conserve the battery.

Hope this helps!

Guess what...you can do the same thing on the door as well. Just not as easy, you need to use a screwdriver to flip the latch both ways. It works, but it is not as simple...
