Compression ratio?

I have a '71 302 with 2bbl carb. It is stock. I am trying to determine the compression ratio, but everywhere I look (Motor's, Chilton, etc.) I seem to get different numbers. I think it's about 9.0:1 but what do you all think?

The heads are good and I don't want to mill them, but if the compression is below 9.0:1 then I might consider different head gaskets to bring it up a little bit. What gaskets do you all suggest. I think it has Felpro torque once gaskets now.

Thanks, Polkat

Compression ratio?

With the gasoline quaility ever in doubt, I would leave it at 9:1

Compression ratio?

Thanks guys. 9.0 sounds good for todays gas and even for some mild enhancements. And you're right, with whats probably coming, who knows what gas will be like in only a few months!
