two bronco problems

I have a 91 bronco 5.8 351w..when I'm driving my truck will chug like it wants to die but thats only when im going 30-35mph so I didn't know if it was my spark plug wires missing or something then my fuel gauge will show me my right amount of gas then move all the way to full and slowly move down and i didn't know what that problem was

Welcome to FTE and the Big Bronco Forum. We will do our best to get you the most accurate information we can.

First, a question about the truck: Has the CEL (Check Engine Light) come on when this happens?

Even if it hasn't come on, you might want to pull codes by performing a KOEO (Key On Engine Off)and KOER (Key On Engine Running) test. These two tests will give a good idea as to where the problem lies by returning fault codes generated by the on-board computer.

You can also check for vacuum leaks and take a fuel pressure reading but there is no guarantee these will give you a definitive resolution to the problem. FP can be read with a gauge attached at the Schrader valve on the fuel rail. Fuel pressure should be somewhere between 35-45 psi with the engine running and shortly there after.

The fuel gauge will sometimes shift around a bit especially with a partial tank of fuel. If it was dropping to the "empty" side of the gauge I'd be inclined to say the tank float was failing but running to "full" then back down isn't typically indicative of that issue.

Might be loose electrical connection at the fuel tank.
