Quick 3g question

I'll try to be as clear as possible. I have a 1g alternator externally regulated currently. I bought a 130 amp 3g off a 96 Mustang today as well as mega fuse, charge cable, etc....

I need to run the charge cable to the positive side of the solenoid or straight to the battery?

And the red/grn wire is all that needs to be hooked up? (the yellow is already looped to the output stud. So I tie into it in front of the regulator and it still goes through the regulator?

that's it, nothing else?

I made this coversion last week. You can run the hot wire to the battery or silenoid. I attached my Megafuse to the stud on the silenoid and then the hot wire from the alternator to that. Then all you need to do is connect the green/red wire to the same in the wiring harness to ignite the alternator.

Finished! Mounted anyway, i now have no spark... Ideas anyone? It won't even run with the hot side of the coil hooked straight to the battery.

I have a Duraspark III ignition, as in eec controlled.

Did you remove your old wiring from the truck? I did at first when I did my conversion. I ended up having to hook the factory stuff back up to the starter solenoid and it runs. You could probably figure out how to bypass it all, or just hook it back up and leave the other end dangling and sealed off.

You might have not hooked up or broke one of the other wires on the pos stud of the solenoid

i did pull the regulator and simply hook up the charge lead to the batt and green/red 12v wire to the same in my harness. I'll tro to put the regulator back on it and wire it back up. & guess I just ignore the old charge wire? Next monday the ecu is out.
