Hello...Let's talk shift tube availability and or sources
Hello !
1966 F-100 owner (newly purchased).
Warranty number. F10YD790219
Truck was built in December of 1965
Truck was built in Dallas
Truck is powered with a 352, 8 cylinder, 2V carb engine
Truck is 2 wheel drive
Truck is three speed manual on the column
Truck is 115" S.W.B.
Truck body is 81B, custom cab, step side
This truck is still very sound body and mechanically..
There are a few items that need attention tho.....
First up....it shifts HORRIBLY. I needed to replace the shift collar, so I began the disassembly process of the steering column. I quickly
Found that the shift tube is missing the reinforcing piece of metal that the shift lever engages, and the hole in the shift tube has become elongated..
I am having trouble finding a replacement shift tube. Are they available anywhere? If not, can the one I have be repaired?
I thank you for any help and information you send this way.
I am also new to this forum buisness...please school me on any and everything.

I had a shift tube repaired by a friend that is a welder...It worked till I could find a good used one. The alignment between where yours broke and the other end where the levers are is critical.
That being said, I could swear I read a thread last week with information on NEW shift tubes. Or it may have been an old thread from when they were out there. Use the search function.
I eventually ditched the three-speed on the tree for a more robust T-19 four-speed which of course is floor shifted. I will someday get a non three speed collar and remove the shift tube, but I have too many projects to make that a priority.
