MAJOR Problem, PLEASE Help!!!
Okay, here's the deal. I messed up bad. I've been having issues with my power steering (noises) so I decided to flush the fluid. The problem is that I chose today after working a 10 hour day on 5 hours of sleep. Long story short I put a small amount of Mobil 1 Synth ATF in the Brake Fluid Resevoir
. I didn't realize what I had done until the stream of Power steering fluid stopped and the fluid level in the Brake Fluid resevoir wasn't going down. Now I know that I need to flush the brake lines but I'm having issues with that. Right now I'm trying to gravity bleed the lines after vacuuming out the resevoir. I have no Idea what I'm doing with the brake lines and was looking for some advice. I bought two 32oz. bottles of dot 3 fluid and have opened up the rear passenger side bleeder but the flow has stopped even with the tank full. What am I doing wrong? Also, the power steering return line is still disconnected. Could this cause the problem? I don't want to reconnect it until I flush the power steering but I don't know if I can run the truck to flush it while there's a small amount of ATF in the brake lines. If anyone can help please do.

If you vaccumed out the resevoir before you stepped on the brakes you probably didnt contaminate the brake fluid in the lines so you should not have to bleed the system. Our trucks use the ps pump to power assist the brakes so you will need to reconnect the ps return line to bleed the brakes, Good luck and let us know how it works out.

We all screw up one time or another...Yes, what Costa says.. above.. and then I think I would get another person to pump the brakes , and then hold the pedal down while you brake loose the bleeder valve.. starting with the wheel furthest from the master cylinder. Do this about 3 or 4 times before moving on to the next wheel.. and do the same.. Then when you are done, start all over again and do all 4 wheels again..Make sure you keep the master cylinder full at all times while bleeding the brake system.. That should flush out the PS fluid..I would reconnect the PS return line before flushing....
