460 EFI Fuel Pump Noise

I don't see a forum for the "E" Series Truck/Van/Motorhome vehicles. So I posted in the fuel system sub-forum. Is the E350 not considered to a truck :-) ?

Anyhow, I have a fairly noisy humming in-tank pump.
Would like some feedback as I'm starting out on a lengthy trip.

Thanks
Tom

It COULD be an indicator that the pump is starting to go bad, but if it doesn't seem to be affecting performance it's probably nothing to worry about.

Just my $.02

My F350 does that all the time. I haven't had a problem yet but it is fairly high mileage so it maybe ready to fail. I think there is a TSB for the F350. I haven't had time to look through it but it might apply to the vans too. There's a link at the top of the page, give it a read.

Not Noticable from Drivers Seat

I have noticed my pump making this noise for the last year, but, I have not been taking it out on trips, just starting it up and driving around town to keep everything moving. So, before I got into a long vacation trip I just wanted some opinions as to whether other rigs make noticable noise. I don't hear it from the driver seat but it is noticable if you are in the back of the cabin. Maybe that is normal? My 86 F250 460 in-tank pump can be slightly noisy at times but just not this loud. This rig has 54k miles, but like all motorhomes, it sits a lot unused.

Thanks for your replies.
