i play in the woods where it's tight. my tires will climb over and conform to things, a bumper sticking out the side will catch on things. i'm used to my truck, i can creep through spaces that would blow your mind, add 6 inches of solid steel to each side and i'm just gonna get hung up on trees and rocks and ledges

There are bumper height regulations too, and in many situations you ain't allowed to move the bumper below the frame, you can however use a taller rear bumper so it hangs lower... It's a mess for the most part, what's legal in one state gets you the book thrown at you in another, and I gotta say that having seen some real hacked lifts I'm not all that against lift laws.
louisiana lift laws are extremely lax. the only law about lifts is headlights, other than that if the inspector thinks your vehicle is unsafe (too high, lift not installed properly, pieced together) he can deny you an inspection sticker. me n my friends dont have to worry about that, us country boys know how to put a truck together lol
