88' No Steering

Ok....so I was plowing my driveway yesterday when I backed into a snow bank (we got 26 inches yesterday....)
I turned the wheel to the left to get unstuck, the wheel just kept turning.... i can literally spin the wheel in either direction. I checked the shaft in the engine compartment and it's not turning at all. So the issue is in the column inside the cab. Anyone know if theirs a universal joint or something in the column? This is my second column, so I can easily just go get one from the junkyard if that's easier than repairing whatever is wrong.
