1964 F 260

I have a 1964 ford hi-boy 4x4 and on the door jam tag says it is a f-260 not f-250 what does this stand for Thank Rod

F26=3/4 ton 4x4
F25=3/4 ton 4x2
F11=1/2 ton 4x4
F10=1/2 ton 4x2

260 is the weight rating.

The vin on a true factory 4x4 will always have F26 or F11 for the first three digits

260 =6900# 3/4 Ton
261 =4,900# 1/2 Ton
262 =7,900# 3/4 Ton

The weight ratings were for registration purposes as state uses the GVW to access taxes and fees. the lower the weight the lower the fees.
