Throttle Body

I was working on the throttle body for the 'build' motor from my '89 302 and busted one of the screws holding the TPS on .. tried vice grips and just broke it again, this time flush with the alum casting .. tried drilling it out and busted the bit .. now the threads are all F'ed up ..

so I went and got the TB off the old motor from the '87 .. things went better and I successfully got everything apart .. but I've noticed minor differences in the casting (see pics) .. the older one also uses rubber seals along the butterfly shaft ..

are the TBs interchangeable?

is there a rebuild kit for the '87? .. so I can freshen up the seals .. pointers/links appreciated ..

87' TB

'89 TB

yea they are interchangeable i think the only difference would have been if it was an auto or manual.... they might look different because 87 was likt the first mass produced efi year then they done away with the stuff they didnt need on there.... i dont see any major difference in them...

i am almost 100% u can use it

thanks .. pretty much what I figured .. just minor casting revisions .. btw, both trucks had manual transmissions ..

I'll see if Ford lists a re-build kit for the rubber seals when I call them in the AM ..
