Odd Non-Start Problem

(this is ref my F350) Turn the key nothing, radio and lights work (has juice). Jump over the fneder mounted relay (starter switch) which is new and it turns over!!! Bougyt a brand new heavy duty Relay (fender mounted) and nothing different!! Why could this be???? turns when you jump the post but nothing any other way...

have someone turn the key while you test at the relay for a signal.
The starting system is very simple on these trucks, when you turn the key the ignition switch at the base of the steering column sends a signal (red and light blue wire I believe) to the clutch position switch (if man. trans.) or to a jumper if it is auto trans. Then from there it goes to the trans range selector (if auto trans) it is a white and pink wire going in and then a Red and light blue wire goes to the relay. From this point on it sounds like everything is working.

If man. trans. play with the clutch a few times and try again. If auto trans, move the shifter through it's full range a few times and try again in both park and nuetral a few times. If this does not work it is time to try the wiring I mentiond above.

Goood luck keep us posted.

I almost forgot, the Ignition switches starting circuit gets it's power from fuse 10(I think) in the engine fuse box.

We found that it was some sort of switch block close to the steer column... has something to do when you turn the key...cost 19.00 sure amazed me..
