Just straight piped my 300

Have you thought about headers? My advice to you, IF you plan on upgrading your manifold, is not to put on the EFI dual manifolds. I say screw that man. If you're going to do the work, bolt on a good set of headers. From there I'd run true duals, 2 inch pipe, 24'' glasspacks.
By the way my friend, I ran a 31 inch pack before. It was really quiet. Try not to go any longer than you have to, if you like it loud. 12'' is the shortest.

No offense, because I respect you and your opinion a lot, but,
1 Headers are expensive.
2 I have not that much money
3 Headers cage your starter in
4 Headers leak easily
5 Have you heard of all the bad experieances folks on here have had with headers for the 300? (F250 Restorer for one)
6 EFI manifolds are cheap
7 EFI manifolds are easier to be had
8 EFI manifolds are an OEM, bolt in swap that do not leak as easy or cage your starter in

I have headers, true dual 2-1/4" pipe to glass packs and exit at the rear bumper. Sounds mean as hell turns heads all day long Some have asked if I'm running a big block, one dude even asked if it was a diesel. Either way it sounds mean and the engine loves the flow. I paid 25 bucks for a brand new exhaust dual system I sawzall'd off a wrecked truck at the bone yard definately worth the time and money. If you go with headers definately spend the extra cash to have beefy collectors added the stock ones don't seal for crap and don't waste your money on the aluminum collector gaskets they advertise as "the last gasket you'll ever buy" they were the quickest to go to the trash. If you go with headers cut a relief slot between each port or they like to twist and don't seal very well on the top aft corner

Sure will definately try the sound clip. My starter is still very easily accesible with the headers. Oh yeah also if you do the headers wrap them it keeps the heat away from the intake but it's expensive. I definately scored big with the exhaust at the wrecking yard. me and my headers have a love hate but in the end I guess I like them. I wonder what it would take to tap a hole in the top aft corner and stud it? May pick up a 25 dollar head from the bone yard this week and start playing. I know ford did the bolt set-up for heat expansion issues and the intake/exhaust setup but there may be a better way for a stock head thats easy and cheap. I have also read if you can score an exhaust manifold off of an old ford dump truck running the 300 engine they actually have better flow than headers? Curious but worth trying.

just out of curiosity, do you think it was a good idea to use an old galvanized pipe (fence post) for my straight pipe? I don't know if I was supposed to weld that stuff. burned some of the galvanization coating right off. oh well
and also, what do you think about turndowns bill???
