my 1990 f350 mason dump, manuel trans 2wd broke the front u joint while plowing so i droped the rest of the driveshaft. fixed the joint changed the output seal on the trans. then hooked it all upt. heres my problem. got in the cab to try things out. started to go foward and it was like the parking brake was on. couldnt go forward. then put it in reverse and was able to backup about 5 to 6 feet then it was like hitting a hall. i think something is messed up with the diff.

u may have busted the ring and pinion... had that happen in some chevys....
uhm take the cover off the back and look at the ring and pinion and in the bottom of the housing u prolly got chunks of the teeth in it
thank for the help! i'm going back up to the truck tomorrow to pull the cover i sprayed it with penatrating oil before i left this afternoon. where will i find the info on the axle?
