Stalling out
First post, but have been reading for a while now. Great Forum!
I think I have two carb issues:
I have a totally stock 84 F250 4X4 460ci 4 spd, the temps here have been in the 30's lately and when I start driving in the morning just as she is starting to get warm she will stall whenever I come to a stop. She will also stall if sitting in the driveway as it gets warmed up. She runs fine when the engine is cold or when it's warmed up, the only time it happens is for about a minute just as she reaches a warm operating temp.
The second issue is just an anoyance, if the truck sits for more than a couple hours I have to pump the gas pedal about five times to get fuel up to the carb before starting the truck.
Any Ideas?

With the inbetween stalling problems, I suspect the carb is icing up. Make sure you have the original aircleaner on the carb, and the little damper door in the snorkel is working, and you have the hot air tube going from the snorkel down to the exhaust manifold.

Thanks, it still is using the original air cleaner and air duct is attached to the exhaust manifold and all of the vacuum lines seem to be attached. How can I verify if the damper is working? With the engine warmed up it’s closed. Should it be open when not running or just if the air temp is cold or if the engine is cold?

Should be open when running, and cold, as it warms up it should close to allow colder fresh air in.
Where-abouts you stationed? MstrChief?
My truck seems to do the same thing in the mornings here in Whidbey, she hesitates in the morning then gets better as the day warms up. My preheater isn't hooked up so I imagine the accelerator diaphragm is getting froze up and not wanting to pump, because under normal throttle she purrs. Just whenever I give her a pump she tends to hesitate a second or two.

95% of the time she runs perfect. In fact the only time it's a problem is just as the engine get warmed up. Then as I roll up to a stop sign or down shift for a turn she dies. One or two pumps of the throttle and she will start right up but then I have to keep my foot on the gas to keep it idling. Once it is fully warmed up it's fine again.
I have a Det at NASWI and get up there from time to time. I'm down in Silverdale and I actually retired from active duty last Oct after 23 years great years now I'm a sillyvillian (civilian) working for the gov. I decided to try and get to know my kids before they finish growing up and move out.

My motorhome is an 86 model year wit a 460 and her carb has been rebuilt twice, she does the same thing and I kind of just try to live with it (only use the mh once in a while) the 4180 carb isn't a whole loft of fun to rebuild.
I'm up here doing the whole vanopdet thing, I get to go to Afghanistan once in a while. Anyhow, welcome to the forum. Most of the time these guys can help you out with your issues it just takes some banter now and again...
