Hey mxracer, Thanks for making that call. I have been swamped and had not yet had time. Very interesting. I think I may still call and see if I get the same answer. You never know.

No, no , no. They are just going to keep the new Rotella T6 version from now on according to that info. Still synthetic, same oil, new name.

EDIT: What are they going to do, rename the same chit and charge more?? If that's what they do, I'm done with them... That's crap!
No they are still making it, just renamed it. I saw it in autozone, it is the same exact price$

Just to let you guys know. Many of you know what I do for a living. So every now and then I can get a little inside info. There is now difference what so ever between rotella 15w40, Pennzoil 15w40, and Quaker State 15w40. All three owned my shell. It is an attempt to capture market share. I have to leave it at that.

Hey, Jamie... good to see you posting. When I get a chance, I'll give you a call soon to talk "shop". My list of questions is growing, and I'm sure you can help me understand some things better.

Interesting info Jamie. Are you sure it's 100% identical between the labels? I know in other industries it's common to have many different labels come off the same line, but the ingredients might be tweaked from one brand to the next. The same ownership does not mean the same quality product, but I'm guessing you have enough info to back your statements.

Anything else you can share here or in a PM? Now I'm curious to see what Penziol and Quaker State sell for compared to the Rotella

Yes I do have the information to back up my claims. I wish i could tell how I know this information, but I can't. Usually Quaker State and Pennzoil are cheaper. The reason has to do with price. See, in many people minds rotella is considered a premium oil. So people will pay more for it. Then on the other end of the spectrum you have the crowd of people that is going to run the cheapest oil they can possible find. Thats were Pennzoil comes in, at a cheaper price to get that market of customers.

I must be one of those people who consider Rotella a premium oil since even after reading this I'd still only buy it and put it in vs the other two.

We have been running Rotella-T syn in our race/track bikes for years due to the non-friction modification claims.....Maybe they all got smart and decided to officially capitalize on that market. But now the price may go up

I picked up some of this stuff yesterday. Other than the jug and label looking different (more plain) it looks and smells the same. Still says Rotella T on it. Or am I missing something else here?

They had 2 new jugs and 2 old jugs. Same price, same UPC code (I think) so I dumped it all in. On its face, it appears they just updated the packaging and specs is all. Most oils seem to do that from time to time anyway.

Are you talking about the synthetics or Dino?

Is there a difference between the Rotella T and the T6 ?
