Tranny, Diff, or something else???

'02 F150, 5.4L King Ranch, 33k miles, 4x4. Two days ago I tested my 4 wheel drive system in a straight line on the dry pavement just to make sure everything was sound before heading to the snow in a few weeks. I know I shouldn't test this on dry pavement but I'm hoping my problem isn't related.

After I put the truck back in 2H and started turning slowly I realized my rear end was still locked which obviously made it difficult to turn on the dry pavement. I stopped, repeated the steps to make sure it was out of 4 wheel. Since this happened I feel like something is pulling on my truck...feel like its not rolling as freely as it used to. I feel as if i'm pushing a slight bit harder on the gas pedal to get the normal roll out of my truck at any speed.

Like many of you I know definitely know when something is wrong even if it's minor. Could something in the tranny or diff be slighly off making the truck not roll as smooth? Maybe something didn't full disengage? I'm still able to drive at all speeds but just feel as if something isn't right. I've toggled back and forth between 2H, 4H, and 4L (with the recommended 15 second wait) but still feel I'm having this issue.

i have been filling the same about mine but the other day mine kinda sliped out of 4wd and then back in, and then made a loud clunk when i took it out of 4wd. maybe some one will chime in and help.

Per the manual...the clunk can be normal. Nothing to worry about unless you get a check engine light or the 4 wheel drive system is obviously inoperative.

I hope to get some replies as well.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
