engine mount differences

so i went to drop my 300 into my bronco tonight, and I noticed that something wasn't right:

doesn't exactly line up does it?

the engine is originally out of an 89 bronco, and going into my 84. the mounts I got from a local yard (one that i have done good business with before) and my 84 had a 302 in it previously.

I figure that either the six uses different frame mounts than what the 302 used, or I got 2wd mounts (im not sure if there are differences) by mistake.

what am I missing to make this work? I can easily take the mounts back and trade for the correct ones if i know what i need.

Maybe you should go and look at the salvage yard for a truck that has the same set up as what you are trying to do. See what it has and what is different that your current set up. Usually a 302 mount is different than a 300 due to the length of the motor.

302 mounts are different location than 4.9. you have to remove them. right below where your motor mount is lineing up there is a motor mount bracket that sits in top of the crossmember same spot as your motor mount is now sitting, it fastens on just like the 302 mounts, but you can use grade 8 nuts and bolts

alright im looking for different frame mounts... didn't realize they were different for the two motors (the only other 6/8 swap i have done was my capri, from a v6, i I have only ever been around one other 300) but that would sure explain the holes, that you can see in the picture, that are in the crossmember.

but I tell you what, that 300 sure looked pretty hanging there where it should be!

yup the round hole is where you stick the socket in to tighten the motormount bolt. yes it looks really good, you will have to give more pics when it is complete. you will be surprised how much torque the six has, especially in 4x4 low
