I need help

i have a 98 F-150 with the 4.6 that wont start i dont get any lights except the hood light and and all it does is flash with the sound of a a relay clicking and some time i get full power and im able to start the truck but it hasent started in over a week i think its a short but has anyone had this problem and have any sugestions where to look/ what to look for?

I would pull the battery and have it tested to make sure it's not shorting out.

Had a car once which did what you are saying. Turned out the battery cable was corroded about 10 inches up from the battery post connection. The cover over the cable hid the problem.

Check your cables, connections, and battery as someone else pointed out.

I bet you will find the problem.

the batt test out at 12volts and its only a year old, just put a new cable to replace the cancrous ground but i'll check the ohms of the pos wire

The car had the problem in the positive cable. Sometimes it would fire right up, sometimes it would take hours before it would start. I guess it all depended on how much contact was being made through that corroded area, and if it got hot or not.

well that battery cable was part of the problem she runs like a champ again but now my air bag light keeps flashing everytime i start the truck and after about 30 seconds of flashing it stays on as a solid light so what did i f up now???? and can autozone pull the code for me i found the post about the guy selling the crashed truck and how many problems he had just so you know my truck has never been in a crash butsome f ing punk smashed my window and took my subs and some junk do you think that may have caused the code to pop up and i was working under the dash to fix two messed up wires from the cheap *** car alarm that was instaled in my truck so i might have f,ed something up but what is the first thing i need to know
