460 Carb to EFI

Hey guys I just picked up an 88 fuel injected 460 and I also have an 86 carb 460... I was wanting to see if I could use the EFI out of the 88 into the 86, I plan on swapping the zf5 trans out of the 88 into the 86. Is it possible to also swap the EFI?

You could swap the EFI, you'd just need to swap the harness and computer over

Well most of the harness just unplugs at some point in the truck, the under hood wiring probably wouldn't be a big deal, but ripping out all the wiring in the dash will probably get annoying.

fordfuelinjection.com has some schematics of the EEC-IV computer's connection, so you could also take only the wires and connectors you need and transplant them into the older truck and make a "custom" harness.

I was planning on just swapping motors.... Could the 88 dash fit in the 86?

It doesn't matter, you would still have to pull all of the wiring out of the 88 and transplant it to the 86
