Just had to ask ? I very seldom find anyone in the chat room. The times that I have found people they have been from the alberta/British chapter and Ontario. Never from texas. Whats up guys, you shy ? Or busy. I can't say I am a good chatter. But would think it would be cool,to chat with someone from my own state. No matter if your a guy or gal.

There ain't never been anyone there when I drop in so I quit dropping in. Now I just hang out in one of the forums. Maybe someone will setup a get together there or something and then chat might get interesting....
Thanx!

There's a firewall issue blocking chat connections. It happened when we had the server crash and I had to rebuild the configuration from scratch. It'll get corrected in the next week or so. :-)
Thanks for the info Mr. Payne. Your on the ball, that was a quick reply ! Maybe when it get back up,we can setup a texas chat time.
since were all in the same time zone. Later !!
And here I thought everybody was too busy working on their fords to chat...LOL! I'm sorry to say the truck still isn't fixed and it probably won't be fixed anytime soon. I'm broker than dirt and completely out of ideas and frustrated past tears and anger, straight into SELL! If I can't figure it out, I'll let someone with more resources and ability take it and figure it out and I'll just stick to something that I can take to the shop. I only thought I wanted to go into mechanics at school for a while. Now I know better.
Thanx!

hey Connie, don't let it get you down. let it sit there a few weeks and give it some thought once in a while. one thing my trucks have tought me is to never give up! take a breather from it and think happy thoughts for a while, hey ya never know the answer may just jump up in front of you when you least expect it!
It has been setting. It set for 2 weeks before I took out a loan and took it to the tranny shop and then I had it back for less than 48 hours when it died again. It's been setting for 3 weeks now and the tranny man will be back tomorrow. If I had another vehicle to drive when my truck goes down, it wouldn't be such a big deal but my dad's car is about to crater to. It needs a tranny rebuild, cv joints, oil pan, valve cover gaskets, rear shocks, front struts, driver side seatbelt, passenger interior door handle, window guides on both front, motor mounts (the rubbers gone), and somewhere there's a water leak that's not leaving a puddle or even a drip to find it by. It's just disappearing...That's an 89 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cierra and every day I start it, I just cross my fingers I'll get to work. The mileage is definantly limited and I'm on it's last leg. One of these days, I'm going to go to Brownfield and rip "my uncles" 83 apart and put those body pieces on "my dad's" 85 and then I'll have something to drive until the bearings go out. But until my stubborn uncle and my stubborn dad see reason, that the family needs that 85 running, they won't let me do anything about putting the body together.
Thanx!

Too bad it's not a manual or you could at least push-start it . I think....truck weigh a bit more than cars. When I was driving a car with a questionable electrical system & manual I always tried to park on high ground so I could roll-start the car if it failed to start on its own. Only problem is that high ground is tough to find in Texas outside of hill counrty.
Water leak with no puddles: If it only leaks when the engine is hot, it could be possible that it's leaking on something hot and evaporating/boiling off before it can drip down somewhere. Or if you have a dead cylinder, it could be going in there (and not creating smoke because it's not burning). I had a gas leak that I couldn't find because the gas would flash off the intake manifold and not leave a puddle or catch fire. Note: since you said water, I'm assuming you are running with water and not antifreeze/glycol. Which would make sense if it was going through significant quantities of coolant since antifreeze costs more than water.
I think some starters can be rebuilt. Any truth to this? If so i'd imagine the kit is less than new starter. I know is still money you don't have, but it's a step in the right direction. I don't know if A&M has meal points for food or what not, but maybe you can trade a friend some points (let them use your card) for cash. The broke (wo)man's best friend is creative barter
