2005 F250 Horn

My horn on my 2005 F250 would not stop after I gave it a quick tap when someone cut me off. So - I proceeded to press and bang on it until it did. Since that time, it will not work at all.

I have replaced the horn switch but it still does not work. I've seen mention of the clock switch?

Does anyone have a troubleshooting methodology I can follow to troubleshoot/verify the horn switch is 'good'?

Thank you,

Scott

You could try a new horn relay...it's located in the central junction box.

If the horn switch wiring is part of the clock spring (I am not sure) then your banging on the horn, when it was stuck, possible damaged the connector for the clock spring.

I just had this exact same issue the other day. Horn got "stuck" and had to bang on it to get it to stop. Horn would then randomly turned on when it was parked in the driveway and it eventually stopped on its own and is now completely dead. Any thoughts on what to check first? thanks.

As Hartwig stated change the horn contact. If the cruise control works but the horn doesn't it has to be the horn contact.

Cruise control works, I already replaced the horn contact - that was the first thing I did.

Horn still does not work.

Does anyone know for sure where the horn relay is on a 2005 F250? I recall reading that it was integrated on the PCB (or something like that).

I had the same problem on my 05 F350, I ended up needing to replace the horns themselves.

yes, both were burned
it happened to me twice in a row that the horns were internal destroyed. So i opened the horns the second time. The horn contact was the problem on the airbag. The horns were horning themselves "to death". I don't have the truck at my house, though. So I couldn't hear it.

So - the other night, the horn just started going off in my driveway. I wound up removing the fuse to stop it. I took it to a repair shop as I needed a quote for my A/C and they diagnosed it as being the "switch inside air bag" needs to be replaced.

Any thoughts on what the "switch" is they mentioned? They said the horn contact membrane did not need to be replaced. So - I have asked if there is a part number but thought maybe someone here might know what they are referring to.

Regards,

Scott

Just to be clear - the horn pad you mention is the horn contact membrane (for example -
Amazon Amazon
) - correct?

BTW - love your truck/camper

Scott
