recirculation air
Hey there Guys. I have an 08 f150 supercrew xlt with the 5.4. I don't know if this is a problem or if it is normal so here it is. I have (and I am sure you all have this too) a button on the dash that I can push to recirculate the air instead of having outside air come in. Off for the heating/cooling system is at 12 o'clock. The recirculating mode does not work in full defrost which I believe is correct but for both defrost/floor or full floor (both in right side of off) if I turn on recirculating the light will stay on for about 10 minutes then turns itself off. Any position to the left of off and it stays on. The dealership I bought the truck from believes this is normal. Can anyone go for a drive and tell me if this is the same for them? Also, the light goes out any time I change modes on the right side of off. Thanks guys.

The recirculation only comes on with max a/c for better cooling .when you switch to normal air it pulls outside air so you need to push recirculating button.
You should not use recirculating any time you go to any defrost function as it will cause fogging.
Mine does not come on automaticely on defrost only on max air.

Just double checked mine and its the same as yours not sure about recirculating the light will stay on for about 10 minutes then turns itself off.
Will check it next time I'm out.
My felling is you should only use Recirculating in summer with any A/C settings.

recirculation in cabin. Recirculated air may reduce the amount of time to
cool down the interior of the vehicle and may also help reduce undesired
odors from reaching the interior of the vehicle. Recirculation engages
automatically with selection of MAX A/C or can be engaged manually in
any other airflow selection except defrost. Recirculation may turn off
automatically in all airflow selections except MAX A/C.<!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- / message -->
